Pink Airplanes

We just got back from a trip to Richmond to meet our new niece Cate and celebrate with Ben at his 4th birthday party. Its amazing how much easier it is to fly with a 2+ year old versus an 18 month old. Amelia was so excited about going on the airplanes. We actually saw a plane that had 2 side propellers that were pink. She was even more excited after that that to go on the pink airplane.

Shortly after arriving there Ben's cake arrived in less than ideal condition. It had fallen over on the ride from DC and had some cosmetic as well as structural damage. After the kids had gone to bed the adults stayed up to make a plan to try and bring the cake back to its original state.

Before

Mark and Ryan were recruited to make the frosting. This can be a little intimidating for 2 guys that don't cook let alone bake. Look how intense Mark looks....

Beth stayed up until 2 am to get the cake looking its best. She did an amazing job. In the end the cake looked exactly the same as it had when it was picked up.

After...WOW!

Ben and Amelia got along great and were like peas and carrots all weekend.

Waiting for the party to begin

After the party
We were even able to get posed pictures of them. They had such a great time just sitting next to each other saying cheese. Honestly, I think they were on this bench for 10-15 minutes!

 CHEESE!!!!

Mark and I jumped on the opportunity to both be in a picture with Amelia

But lets not forget about sweet baby Cate...our new niece. It's funny hearing Amelia call her Baby Cate since Ben most of the time is still calling her Baby Amelia.
